In 2005 the vision of one man set computer training down a new path.
It was clear that the old model of training - herding people into a training centre and cramming as many people as possible into a training room - was not working. You needed only to listen to what people said -
"I couldn't keep up and the instructor didn't have time to help me."
"I spent half the day twiddling my thumbs waiting for everyone else to finish."
"I had unanswered questions because the instructor had to stick to his schedule."
"I was in a class with 15 people I didn't know and I felt uncomfortable."
"It would be so much easier if we could have training at work."
A simple but radical idea emerged, to provide a mobile training service where the trainer went to the customer, rather than the other way round. After all, wouldn't it be easier for one person to travel to an office to provide training rather than for lots of people going off site for the day?
The issue of computers? Easy. The trainer would bring everything and set up a temporary classroom in the board room or meeting room.
Hello. My name is Jason Morrell. I am he. He who started this snowball rolling.
Sure there were some bumps along the way. Lots of naysayers who said I'd be mad to try it.
But undeterred and running with that simple approach, no clients and a car that was held together with sticky tape and prayer, I started attracting some clients and ventured to and fro throughout Queensland, Australia. Armed with a fistful of laptops and a projector, I visited many businesses and individuals to deliver training and rapidly built a reputation for providing excellent value.
People that tried it, loved it. They raved about it. And they couldn't believe how easy, convenient and inexpensive it was. Nor could they believe how effective it was to have training that was tailored to the work they actually did.
The proof was in the pudding - many of those clients kept coming back for more.
I mean, why would you send people out of the office to a training centre when you had the option of an expert instructor visiting you?
And why would you pay a flat rate per head, when Two Rivers lessened the pain with significant lower costs, despite all the added benefits?
Fast forward to today. While many businesses are floundering and dropping by the wayside, Two Rivers Software Training has gone from strength to strength. It now operates in two countries (Australia and UK) and has taken on a number of people to help run the business. The mobile approach works. It is well and truly proven.
Someone once said:
"People may not remember what you did.
People may not remember what you said.
But people will always remember how you made them feel."
For many people, that feeling is relief, excitement, anticipation, optimism, elation, triumph, hope, and a renewed confidence. Two Rivers stands by its solid reputation to deliver these results and the good name it has developed.
Why the name "Two Rivers Software Training'? We get asked that a lot.
Firstly, I wanted to avoing B-O-R-I-N-G names like Tech Training or ABC Industries. Secondly, my eldest son is called Jordan and his middle name is a family name - Trent. Two big rivers. And finally, the geographical area in which I originally used to operate was hemmed in by two rivers - the Brisbane river and the Tweed river.
To find out if Two Rivers is a good fit for you, take a few moments to tell us about your situation and let's take it from there.
Remember, we deliver onsite training at your office in (or around) Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Sunshine Coast. Our courses include Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Access, Project, Publisher and Dreamweaver.
